If you go Wizard or Sorcerer, I highly recommend Magic Missile, Mage Armor, and Protection from Alignment as your spells. But anything will work if you use the right tactics. So I vote for either an arcane caster (I'm very partial to Wizards myself), or a Rogue (heavy crossbow + sneak attack will make your life soooo much easier in the Shield Maze).
